Day 9: Last Day in Dublin

May 14, 2025 Made it to the last full day of our trip! For the most part, people either don’t wanna leave and some are more than ready to be home already. Started off the morning meeting our new tour guide and bus driver. Her name is Kathy and she’s a tiny 5’2 lady which made it difficult to spot her in the crowds LOL. Our bus driver was Brian and boy did he drive us a fancy bus! Only thing missing was wifi and even then I didn’t mind. Since we were actually staying in the same hotel as the place we were exploring, everything was about a 10 minute drive depending on traffic. We had our usual Irish breakfast options but this time the pastries were the highlight of the shower! They had locally made vanilla glazed sprinkle donuts, giant donut holes with custard or raspberry jam filling, and these creamy custard tarts that was reminiscent of crème brûlée. But the best part for me? THEY HAD  ✨ ICE ✨ !! I’ve never been so excited to see a bucket of ice until now. I took one of the...

Day 8: Back to Dublin!

May 13, 2025 Top o’the morning to ya! Last night I slept with the window cracked open because it was stuffy af in the room. I would love to live in Europe but these guys need to start installing AC units into more than just public spaces. Oh and ice! Lots and lots of ice! After breakfast and mass we made our way out of Sligo and began a 2 hour drive back to Dublin. Which means I get to have a nice 2 hour nap! Sean was pressed on time so he stopped by a local truck stop off the interstate. Our choices were a local bakehouse, LaVazza coffee, Subway or Burger King. I think the general consensus for most everyone was for BK! None of us really had a burger since we arrived. There were only 2-3 employees working there and despite the bus load of people they actually handled it pretty well. Everyone got their food in a timely-ish manner and then it was back on the bus! Sean usually doesn’t allow us to eat or drink on the bus but this one time he was allowing it! Yay! We all stayed prett...

Day 7: Killybegs/Donegal

May 12, 2025 Good morning from Sligo (pronounced like sly-goh). Guess what? I didn’t die in the haunted insane asylum last night! Woohoo! I still didn’t sleep well and it’s not because I was afraid of ghosts haunting me. The room got a bit hot and stuffy at times so I was up and down all night just tossing and turning. I could barely keep my eyes open during breakfast. We loaded onto the bus and not even 5 minutes into the drive do I start falling asleep. We got to the church, heard mass, and I was back asleep on the bus before I knew it. At some point I woke up because I heard Sean say “this would be a great opportunity for a group photo” so I figured I better wake up and get ready to get off the bus. We ended up at a scenic stop at this place called Largy in Kellybegs. Believe it or not, that is the Atlantic Ocean that we’re all looking at. It would probably look more amazing if it was sunny out, but apparently clouds and rain are infamous in Northern Ireland. My favorite part ...

Day 6: Knock/Sligo

May 11, 2025 Happy Mothers Day to all the amazing mothers and mother figures today! This is probably the first Mothers Day in a long time where I didn’t have to cook breakfast LOL. But couldn’t go without getting my mom a little something. I got her an emerald anklet to commemorate this Mother’s Day in Ireland and of course she loved it.  After breakfast we loaded up the bus again and made our way to Knock in County Mayo (hehe). Here, we are visiting The Shrine of Our Lady of Knock. The story begins on 21 August 1879, when 15 people from the village witnessed an apparition of Mary on the gable wall of the parish church. They said she appeared with St Joseph, St John the Evangelist, a lamb and a cross. As soon as we arrived we had our Sunday mass followed by a tour of the shrine. But what happened when we started our tour? RAIN!!! This is the first time we’ve seen rain since we’ve been here. So glad I didn’t bring all my rain gear for nothing! But I honestly could’ve used ano...

Day 5: Kylemore Abbey/Downtown Gallway

May 10, 2025 Maann what a good night of sleep! Finally a queen sized bed all to myself with all the pillows ugh why couldn’t I sleep in for the rest of the day. But no. Time to get on that damn bus again. Not really sure what the point of today was honestly. We drove around for a bit, saw lots of grass and sheep (s’cute btw), and stopped off at the Kylemore Abby. Which I thought the whole place was gonna be nuns galore but it really wasn’t!  We had a great lunch prepared with locally produced fruits and vegetables that the nuns grew on site. During lunch we ended up meeting a Filipino nun who was super eager to meet other Filipinos since it’s been a while since she’s seen anymore. Which is fair considering we’re in Ireland but man she was just the sweetest little thing! After lunch we walked around their gift shop which had a bunch of locally made Irish goods as well as stuff produced by the nuns. They make their own jams, chocolates, and (surprisingly enough) their own vers...

Day4: The Cliffs of Moher

May 9, 2025 Man today really went by kinda fast. Before leaving our hotel in Killarney I wanted to test out something I spotted at the hotel. 3 words I didnt know existed: mini. pancake. machine. Yup. Can’t find that at your average hotel in the States but yeah. Europe just does it better! In the push of a button I watched pancake batter squirt out 1 end, get heated and slide down a griddle conveyor belt, and then pop out at the end on my plate. Cue the “why are we not funding this?!” meme. Once we left to the hotel we were on our way to the infamous Cliffs of Moher. I’ve seen pictures online but it was NOTHING compared to what it’s like in real life. Mind you we’re on day 4 of this trip but we still have yet to see any rain. If it did rain they did have an indoors exhibit that’s a lame version of the real thing. But since it was sunny we had the most beautiful and most breathtaking view of these cliffs! Between the natural beauty of the cliffs, the sparkling clear blue water, and the ...

Day 3: Killarney/Ring of Kerry

May 8, 2025 After a restless night it was time to get up and prepare for the day. Thankfully we’re staying at the same hotel tonight so we didn’t need to fuss with our luggage today yay! Breakfast was again another Irish breakfast: eggs, bacon, mushrooms, baked beans and potatoes. But I saw thry have a cool mini pancake conveyor belt thst I am determined to try tomorrow. Once everyone had lunch we piled onto the bus to go to the Ring of Kerry. Google didn’t give me too much insight on what to expect but I did know it was about to be a beautiful journey. Our first stop was at a little rest area which also had a little town to learn about Irish heritage. It was 7 euro to just get in, so that was a hard pass. Instead we went to the pub next door to use the restroom and try our first Irish coffee of the trip! We had the option of either Baileys or Irish Whisky as the base of our drink. I love Baileys so I went for that, then they added the coffee and a soft foam cream on top. WOAH th...
